Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeNguyen The Thao said that due to predictions of increasing numbers ofstorms and low pressure systems and the early appearance of heat wavesand floods, the city has prepared for expenditure, forces and means oftransportation to ensure the implementation of preventive measures andsearch and rescue activities in case a disaster occurs.
All districts were asked to define areas prone to natural disastersand take the initiative in evacuating locals from dangerous areas,especially those close to rivers and in parts at risk of landslides.
Thao urged local authorities to store food,medicine and basic necessities to support people to overcome theconsequences of storms and floods.

According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), this year’s campaign provided long-term aid for 3,785 individuals and organisations.
