Hanoi students win gold medals at int’l invention contest

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi’s secondary school students grabbed gold medalsfor their two inventions at the World Invention Creativity Olympic (WICO) in theRepublic of Korea.

Out of 345 scientific inventions from 22 countries and territories, a productto treat oil pollution made from biofilm yeast on rice husk biochar and theapplication of nano silver in improving the efficiency of solar waterdistillation equipment by six students from Giang Vo School, two from Cau Giay Schooland one from Chu Van An School were recognised at the competition.

They were awarded special prizes for the best innovations in the biochemicaland physics categories by Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University and theIndonesian Young Scientist Association, respectively.

WICO is an annual competition organised by the Korea University InventionAssociation and sponsored by the parliament of the Republic of Korea. Secondaryand high school students worldwide are offered the chance to present theirinnovations.

This year’s event took place from July 25 to 27 at the Seoul Trade ExhibitionCentre in Seoul. - VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
