Hanoi to build bridge on city belt route

The Transport Ministry has decided to build Vinh Thinh bridge on Hanoi Capital’s belt route No. 5.

The bridge will be built with an estimated investment of 2.32 trillionVND (129 million USD) with loans from the Republic of Korea ’s EconomicDevelopment Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and Vietnam .

The four-lane bridge spans the Hong (Red) river, connecting to the NoiBai-Lao Cai highway and the Ho Chi Minh highway, contributing tofacilitate socio-economic development in urban areas and provincesaround the capital city of Hanoi .

It will be built to withstand earthquakes of up to level 8.

Construction of the bridge is scheduled for over 36 months starting from 2010, to be completed in December 2013./.
