Hanoi’s developmental history brought to light

With more than 80 panels of photos, documents, drawings and maps showingHanoi ’s “new urban lifestyle”, the exhibition aims to showcase thecapital city’s development from an oriental urban city to a westernstyle city.

It reflects changes in Hanoi ’s urban centrethrough architecture, administrative boundary, economic andsocio-culture while maintaining the traditional identity of theHanoians.

The exhibition is divided into five parts, showingHanoi – a capital township of the province of the same name from theearly 19th century to 1873, a city of Vietnam and the firstwestern-style architectural planning in 1873-1897, a period ofconstruction in 1897-1906, the development of the city to meet colonialdemand in 1906-1940 and Hanoi from 1940-1945.

The exhibits areoriginal documents with high value for those who study and love Hanoi, said Prof. Phan Huy Le, Chairman of the Vietnam Historic ScienceAssociation.

The event is a cultural exchange between Vietnamand France , a product of cooperation between the Thang Long-HanoiHeritage Conservation Centre and the Research Institute for Far Easthistory, he said.

The event runs until Jan. 31./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
