Hanoi’s exports grow 21.6 percent in 2018

– Hanoi shipped goods overseas for 14.23billion USD in 2018, an annual increase of 21.6 percent, reported the municipalDepartment of Industry and Trade.

In December alone, the capital city’s export value reachedabout 1.38 billion USD, up 7.6 percent from November and 28.2 percent year onyear.

Garment-textile products, farm produce, and petroleum contributedthe most to such growth. The garment-textile export turnover increased 24percent while the respective figures for farm produce and petroleum were 39.8and 83.8 percent.

The US, Japan, and China remained Hanoi’s biggest markets,with values accounting for 16, 13, and 12 percent of the total obtained by thecity, respectively.

Meanwhile, the capital city imported 3.1 billion USD worthof goods in December, rising 8.4 percent from November and 9.6 percent against oneyear earlier.

Hanoi’s total import value exceeded 31.18 billion USD in2018, increasing 8.2 percent annually.-VNA
