HCM City leaders extend greeting to Lao diplomats on Bunpimay

HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the Ho ChiMinh City People’s Committee Nguyen Ho Hai and a delegation of localauthorities visited the Lao Consulate General in the city on April 12 on theoccasion of Bunpimay, Laos’ traditional New Year Festival.
Extending his greetings on behalf of the municipal leadersand people, Hai thanked the Lao representative agency, government, and peoplefor their support for the city during the COVID-19 outbreak last year.
Congratulating the Lao Government and people on overcomingpandemic-induced difficulties and recording socio-economic achievements andnational growth, he stated HCM City always stands ready to strengthen itsfriendship and multifaceted cooperation, particularly in economics, with Laos.
The official noted that special attention is paid toexchanges and collaboration between young Vietnamese and Lao people to preserveand promote good traditions between the nations.
Lao Consul General Phimpha Keomixay took the occasion tothank Vietnam’s assistance to Laos’ national construction and development,particularly HCM City’s support for its response to COVID-19 and for the Laocommunity in the city during the latest outbreak.
Wishing for further support from local authorities for the general consulate, the diplomat stressed that the Lao Government, people and localitiesare willing to team up with the city for delegation exchanges and economiccooperation./.
Students of Cambodia and Laos in Ho Chi Minh City on April 12 joined a get-together held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) of the city on the occasion of their New Year festival.
The Cuu Long University in the southern province of Vinh Long held an event to welcome the traditional New Year festival for Cambodian and Lao students as well as its Khmer lecturers and students.
