HCM City, Lyon further ties over urban lighting

Ho Chi Minh City and France’s Lyon city would expand their cooperation beyond the established area of urban lighting to urban management, environmental protection, culture and economics.

ViceChairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong andvisiting Deputy Mayor of Lyon Gilles Buna shared the view during theirmeeting in the city on September 20.

Hong said she hopes Lyonwill continue assisting the Vietnamese southern economic hub ininstalling artistic lighting works at historical and cultural sites.

She said Lyon’s past cooperation has helped HCM City promote thevalue of a number of historical and cultural sites, enticing foreigntourists on their visit to the city.

Gilles Buna said the twocities’ cooperation in urban lighting over the past 15 years has broughtencouraging results and pledged that his city will press ahead withassistance for future projects in HCM City.

A Lyon-designedartistic lighting project at the HCM City Central Post Office isscheduled to start shining on September 22. This is part of activitiesto celebrate 40 years of Vietnam – France diplomatic ties.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
