HCM City: Nearly 8 mln USD allocated for poor population

Addressing the event, Chairwoman of the VietnamFatherland Front’s HCM City chapter , Vo Thi Dung, said about 162billion VND (7.7 million USD) was raised from the public in 2014 to aidlocal impoverished people.

In 2015, the city willstrive to mobilise over 100 billion VND (4.7 million USD) to build 677social houses, fix 1,225 damaged houses, and grant scholarships for21,362 disadvantaged students.

The city aims to reduce theimpoverished household rate to under one percent and households livingnear the poverty line to below two percent of the city’s totalpopulation.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
