HCM City raises over 2.44 million USD for the poor

The fund aims to ease difficulties facing the disadvantagedin the city ahead of the 2022 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. To Thi Bich Chau, Chairwoman of the committee, affirmed thatthe Party and State always consider poverty reduction as a major, important,and consistent task during the national construction and development. Donations to the fund reflect national solidarity and jointefforts in improving local people’s lives amid the complexities brought byCOVID-19, thereby contributing to the national target programme on sustainable povertyreduction, she added. This year, the fund has raised more than 156 billionVND. Local authorities have built and repaired houses for the beneficiaries, presentedgift packages to 156 Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers and the poor./.
Ho Chi Minh City will carry out the third relief package worth 7.3 trillion VND (around 320.7 million USD) sourced from the local budget to help more households and informal workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, said Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.
