HCM City records nine deaths from dengue fever

HCM City (VNA) –
Ho Chi Minh City recorded nine deaths,including two children, caused by dengue fever in the first nine months of thisyear.

The municipal Centre for Disease Control said on October 8 that in Septemberalone, the city recorded 8,128 cases of dengue fever, and most cases of fatalitieshad been hospitalized late.

The centre has called for more efforts from families and agencies to fight thedisease.

The centre also revealed that from January-September, HCM Citywitnessed a total of 14,990 hand-foot-mouth cases, with no deaths reported. Thenumber was 6,573 in September, doubling that in the previous month.
