HCM City remembers Cuba’s Giron victory

A ceremony marking the 53rd anniversary of Cuba’s Giron victory took place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 18.

In April 1961, the US troops made an attempt to invade Playa Giron,but they suffered a defeat and were thrown away from the island. Thisvictory later led to Cuba’s reunification.

Speaking at theevent, Chairwoman of the municipal chapter of the Vietnam – CubaFriendship Association (VCFA) Hoang Thi Khanh recalled the days whenboth nations together went through their struggles for nationalliberation.

People-to-people diplomacy via friendshipexchanges has played a productive part in fostering bilateralsolidarity, she commented.

The ceremony was co-hosted by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the VCFA chapter.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
