Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has permitted Ho Chi MinhCity to amend its master plan with a view to bolstering local development.

The municipal People’s Committee said as aneconomic locomotive of Vietnam, the city will have to make continuousdevelopment. Therefore, the master plan will be revised so as to make HCM Citymore attractive to businesses while winning public approval.

According to the Department of Planning andArchitecture, the amendment will take into account the local resources whileensuring that urban structure will be arranged in a way that helps HCM Cityaddress technical infrastructure problems, adapt to climate change and eradicateflooding.

The planning work aims to build for the city acompetitive environment, a complete infrastructure system, an urban space ableto mitigate climate change impacts, and a suitable urban structure that canminimise the population pressure on the downtown area.

The Prime Minister has requested the municipalPeople’s Committee to coordinate with relevant agencies to carry out therevision.-VNA
