Health Ministry urges tighter supervision of A/H1N1 flu

Vice Minister of Health Trinh Quan Huan said that the supervision and detection of cases of A/H1N1 influenza infection will focus on the hardest-hit areas.
Vice Minister of Health Trinh QuanHuan said on October 7 that the supervision and detection of cases ofA/H1N1 influenza infection will not be deployed on a large scale butfocus on the hardest-hit areas.

Huan made the remark at a gathering in Hanoi of the National SteeringBoard on Flu Prevention in Humans, indicating that efforts to monitorthe possibility of virus variants as well as cases of resistance toanti-influenza medicine are currently the top priority.

According to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Vietnamnow has three more medical establishments which are qualified to testfor the virus, bringing the country’s total to 17.

Vietnam confirmed 55 more cases positive for the super-flu on October7, raising the total number in the country to 9,707 with 20 deaths.

Of the total, 8,745 patients have been released from hospital aftertreatment. The remaining are under quarantine and being treated. Allare in stable condition./.
