Hoa Phat Group sells over 2.16 million tonnes of steel in Q1
Leading steel manufacturer Hoa Phat Group sold more than 2.16 million tonnes of steel in the first quarter of this year, recording strong increases in the sales of all products in the period.

Hanoi (VNA) –Leading steel manufacturer Hoa Phat Group sold more than 2.16 million tonnes ofsteel in the first quarter of this year, recording strong increases in the salesof all products in the period.
The sale of constructionsteel hit 855,000 tonnes, a year-on-year surge of 17 percent. Exports of theitem topped 147,000 tonnes, up 10 percent.
Meanwhile, Hoa Phatshipped 386,000 tonnes of steel billets in Q1, rising 27 percent against thesame period last year. Hot-rolled coil (HRC) exports topped 665,000 tonnes,posting a rise of 75 percent compared to the previous quarter.
The company also soldover 184,000 tonnes of steel pipes in the quarter, a year-on-year jump of 27percent.
Hoa Phat saw a recordhigh in the firm’s monthly sales as it sold over 1 million tonnes of steel in March.
Nearly 480,000 tonnes ofconstruction steel were sold, a year-on-year surge 36 percent. Its exports hit80,000 tonnes, up 18 percent against the peak figure recorded last March.
The supply of steelbillets and HRC to the market were up 32 percent and 36percent in the month, respectively, to 178,000 tonnes and 238,000 tonnes.
The company also soldover 90,000 tonnes of steel pipes in the month, posting a year-on-year jump of73 percent. It produced 31,000 tonnes of steel sheets, rising four-foldcompared to the same period last year.
The group attributedthe surges to a hike in factory capacity following the trial operation of the fourthblast furnace at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat iron and steel production complex inJanuary, and the start of major infrastructure projects nationwide.
It set a target ofproducing 5 million tonnes of construction steel and steel billets and 2.7million tonnes of HRC in 2021./.
