Hanoi (VNA)꧅ – The National Competition Commission under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced that it received a report from Honda Vietnam Co. Ltd. regarding the recall programme for 69 CB650R and CBR650R motorcycles imported and distributed in the Vietnamese market.

The recalled units will be examined and have their gear shift arms replaced. According to the commission, the manufacturer has indicated that during operation, the bolts and nuts of the gear shift arms of the affected motocycles may loosen and detach, resulting the inability to shift gears.
Honda has identified the cause as the inappropriate thickness of the paint layer on the gear shift arm, which prevents a direct and secure contact surface. As a result, the tightening force is not evenly distributed, leading to a reduction in tightness. Consequently, the bolts and nuts may loosen over time, affecting the travel sensor and pedal, which can prevent optimal operation of the motorcycle. Currently, the company has not recorded any incidents affecting the operation or safety of the motorcycles. However, with the responsibility as a manufacturer and importer, Honda Group and Honda Vietnam propose this recall programme to replace the gear shift arms for the affected motorcycles to ensure safety for the vehicles and users, providing optimal quality products for customers, said a representative of Honda Vietnam.
The company also advised that to ensure the safety of the rider and passengers, consumers should quickly take their affected motorcycles to authorised large-displacement motorcycle shops (Honda Dream Wing) and authorised repair shops (HEAD) for inspection and free correction of the issues. The recall programme started on March 25, 2025, with an inspection and parts replacement time of approximately 20 minutes per motorcycle./.
