Honda Vietnam sales continue to slide

Honda Vietnam’s vehicle sales plummeted in the first half of fiscal year 2021 (April 2020 to March 2021) as a result of COVID-19, according to Nguyen Huy Trung, head of the Foreign Affairs Division.

Hanoi (VNA) - Honda Vietnam’s vehicle sales plummeted in the first half offiscal year 2021 (April 2020 to March 2021) as a result of COVID-19, accordingto Nguyen Huy Trung, head of the Foreign Affairs Division.

Motorbikesales nosedived 25 percent year-on-year to 958,875 units, Trung said, but thecompany still managed to account for 80.1 percent of Vietnam’s motorbike marketshare.

Thebest-selling manual model remained the Wave Alpha, with 204,102 units sold, or21 percent of the total. The Vision was its most popular automatic model, withsales totalling 247,570 units, or 26 percent.

Thecompany also exported 68,782 motorbikes to various markets during the period, earning147.83 million USD in revenue, down 22.8 percent from a year earlier.

The jointventure also delivered 11,230 motor cars of all models during April-September,a decline of 27 percent against the same period last year.

The HondaCR-V was again the best-selling SUV, with 4,235 units sold, or 38 percent of allauto sales./.
