Honduras President wants to boost relations with Vietnam
President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, has expressed his wish for strengthened friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Honduras during his presidential term, for the sake of the two countries’ people, and for peace, stability and development in each nation.

Tegucigalpa (VNA) - President of Honduras,Juan Orlando Hernández, has expressed his wish for strengthened friendship andmulti-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Honduras during his presidential term,for the sake of the two countries’ people, and for peace, stability anddevelopment in each nation.
Juan Orlando Hernández made the statement during his swearing-in ceremony atthe TiburcioCarias Andino National Stadium on January 27.
Present at the event in capacity as Special Envoy of President Tran Dai Quang, VietnameseAmbassador to Mexico and Honduras Nguyen Hoai Duong handed over PresidentQuang’s congratulatory letter to the new Honduras President.
Earlier, Ambassador Duong paid a courtesy visit to Honduras Minister of ForeignAffairs and International Cooperation María Dolores Agüero Lara.
At the meeting, the Honduras Minister suggested the two countries continue to tangiblydeepen the bilateral ties in all sectors, consider establishing a politicalconsultation between the two foreign ministries and maintain their coordinationand cooperation at international forums and organisations such as the UN andthe Forum for East Asia-Latin American Cooperation (FEALAC).
At the same time, the two parties should enhance trade and push negotiations ofagreements on investment promotion and protection and double taxation avoidanceand other agreements in trade, agriculture, science- technology and culture, alongwith increasing high-level visits and exchange between ministries and agenciesof the two countries, the minister said.
In reply, Ambassador Duong said Vietnam attaches importance to its relationshipwith Honduras and wishes to consolidate and further deepen the friendship andmulti-faceted cooperation.
He called for support of María Dolores Agüero Lara and her ministry tocontribute to fostering the bilateral ties and increasing mutual understandingbetween the Governments and people of the two countries. - VNA
