Quang Ngai (VNA) – The traditionalbrocade weaving of the H're ethnic minority people in Ba Thanh commune, thecentral province of Quang Ngai, has been recognised as national intangiblecultural heritage.
Traditional brocade products of H're people are popular among other ethnic groups, serving the daily needs of communities,contributing to conserving the locality’s traditional culture and improving incomesfor weavers.
The weaving also demonstrates the traditional culture, intelligence and sophisticatedtechniques of H’re weavers, which have been passed down from generation togeneration.
Each brocade product of the H're people is not only a common product, but alsoa spiritual product where weavers convey their talent, aesthetics,intelligence, creativity, and spirit.
The traditional weaving shows the uniqueculture of the H’re ethnic group in Quang Ngai, reflected by the way ofpatterning on brocade weaving products and costumes.
The recognition as a national intangible culturalheritage is a basis for preserving and promoting this profession.
In recent years, local authorities and sectors have encouraged local residentsto develop the traditional handicraft, as well as implementing scientific projectsto preserve it.
Vocational training in brocade weaving has been organised for young H're women inthe locality, and weaving products introduced atfestivals, exhibitions and fairs, contributing to preserving and developing traditionalweaving./.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recommended the Ministry of Information and Communications and media agencies build a strategy to promote Vietnamese brocade products.
Binh Phuoc province approved a plan to preserve the traditional brocade weaving of S’tieng ethnic group three years ago. But most of local artisans are hardly managing to live on the trade.
For many generations, Dao Tien ethnic women in Cao Bang province have been preserving traditional brocade weaving by establishing and working at local workshops.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
Quang Duc pottery is known for its wide range of forms, including wine bottles, jars, lime pots, vases, plant pots, incense burners and candle stands. Decorative motifs are equally rich, featuring mythical creatures, pastoral scenes, floral patterns, deer, peacocks, bats and more.

The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.
