Humanitarian month launched in central Ha Tinh province

The 2019 Month for Humanitarian Activities has been launched in the central province of Ha Tinh.

Ha Tinh (VNA) - The 2019Month for Humanitarian Activities has been launched in the central province ofHa Tinh.

The month focuses on activities to build houses and provide free medicalcheck-ups and medicines, and livelihood solutionsfor poor people, along with blood donation.

Organizations, enterprises and entrepreneurs and agencies have so far registeredto donate aid worth over 5 billion VND (215,000 USD) .  

After the launching ceremony, the provincial chapter of the Vietnam Red CrossSociety (VRC) coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ha Tinhto organise a voluntary blood donation day, attracting a large number of localyouths.

As many as over 300 units of blood were collectedduring the day.

According to the VRC chapter in Ha Tinh, the provincehas 26,000 disadvantaged households, nearly 25,000 near-poor households, over7,400 Agent Orange/dioxin victim, and thousands of disable children, blind peopleand those with heart-related diseases.

The month is expected to contribute to raising public awareness and encouragingkindness among the public, as well as promoting responsibility of local authorities,party committees and social organizations in the humanitarian work.-VNA
