Jakarta (VNA) - Climate ChangeControl Director General at Indonesia's Environment and Forestry Ministry LaksmiꦚDhewa💧nthi on April 3 asked provincial as well as district and city authoritiesto synergise and collaborate to execute environmental protection at thegrassroots level.

According to minister, theimportance of collaboration lies in the fact that the climate change targetencompasses several sectors across different government institutions. She affirmed that theregional authorities play an important role in reducing greenhouse gasemissions and improving climate resiliency. Earlier, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar alsoencouraged the use of environmental funding that reached over 15 trillion IDR (1billion USD) in the Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH). The fund can address theregional authorities' problem concerning the lack of such funding allocatedwithin the regional budget./.
