Indonesia will prioritise ensuring security for the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD 18), the largest sport event in the region, according to the Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organising Committee (INASGOC).

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesiawill prioritise ensuring security for the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD 18), the largest sport event in the region, according to theIndonesia Asian Games 2018 Organising Committee (INASGOC).

Upto 30,000 security staff will be deployed to maintain security and prevent theworst cases during the event. The number of personnel to be deployed willdepend on the security needs, including at competition venues and crowdingareas.

DeputyGovernor of Jakarta Sandiaga Uno said the city plans to add 300 CCTV units to atotal of 6,000 units already in operation. The cameras use face-recognition technology.

TheDensus 88 anti-terror squad of the National Police would secure the Asian Gamesvenues, especially in Tangerang, Banten province.

Chief Commissioner of the Tangerang CityPolice Sabilul Alif said police of Tangerang city and Banten province areworking with Densus 88 to ensure the safety of athletes and foreign officialsduring the event.

INASGOCChairman Erick Thohir also asked for help from related parties to stand readyto cope with the potentially worst cases during the opening ceremony.

Earlier,INASGOC announced that it will establish three security rounds from the gate ofthe stadium to competition areas to prevent any risk of sabotage orterrorism.-VNA
