Indonesia is committed to pursuing a proactive foreign principle in both political and economic affairs amid rising global geopolitical tensions, according to Indonesian Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia is committed to pursuing a proactive foreign principle in both political and economic affairs amid rising global geopolitical tensions, according to Indonesian Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Sri Mulyani made this statement during an interview on the sidelines of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Annual Meeting in Jakarta. She also mentioned the geopolitical situation and its impact on the economy, the US Federal Reserve (Fed)'s policy, and the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) conditions of Indonesia.

She stated that the state budget is well maintained amidst the current global uncertainty. The state budget deficit is maintained on-track with a final record of 21 trillion IDR or 0.09% of gross domestic product (GDP) in May 2025.

Sri Mulyani said the state budget is being used as an effective counter-cyclical fiscal tool to respond to geopolitical shocks. She called on other countries to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia.

Earlier, on the sidelines of the AIIB meeting, Sri Mulyani discussed the impact of the conflict between Iran and Israel with Saudi Finance Minister Arabia Muhammad Al Jadaan and Qatar Finance Minister Ali Alkuwari. All parties hope that the tension of conflict in the Middle East can subside soon.

ღ Meanwhile, on a separate occasion, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said he will hold a meeting with PT Pertamina (Persero) to discuss the impact of the Iran and Israel conflict on Indonesia's energy security, especially oil prices./.
