Indonesia releases Vietnamese boats, fishermen

Indonesian authorities have released four Vietnamese boats and most of fishermen who were detained on May 21, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian authoritieshave released four Vietnamese boats and most of fishermen who were detained onMay 21, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The ministry said five Vietnamese fishing boatswere stopped by Indonesian sea patrol while operating in waters about 18nautical miles to the north from the delimitation line of continental shelfbetween Vietnam and Indonesia. 

One Vietnamese boat sank during the process andVietnamese authorised force rescued one Indonesian officer.
Vietnam is requesting Indonesia to release theremaining fishermen they seized in the incident.

The two sides are coordinating to settle the incidentin line with the friendship and the strategic partnership between the twocountries. -VNA
