Indonesia supports ASEAN to become economic growth center

Jakarta (VNA) – Indoꦇnesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN)Erick Thohir said on May 1 that his country supports theSouꦰtheast Asian region's efforts to become a center of economic growth.
Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, Thohir said that as ASEAN Chair this year, Indonesia will host the ASEAN Summit on May 9-11 in LabuanBajo, East Nusa Tenggara, during which it aims to promote regional peace and economy.
At the ASEAN Summit, Indonesia will remainconsistent with projecting the message at the G20, held in Bali last November, during which President JokoWidodo pushed for globalization policies that benefit not only developedcountries but also developing ones.
"Economic growth centre" is one of the three main 🌸pillars ofIndonesia's 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship. This pillar includes many priorities suchas strengthening the region's health structure through the "OneHealth" initiative, enhancing food and energy security, anddeveloping a regional electric vehicle ecosystem, promoting the use of ASEAN'slocal currencies in commercial transactions and conneཧcting payment mechanisms in the region./.
One of the priorities of Indonesia, as 2023 ASEAN Chair, is to promote the initiatives of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) through concrete and inclusive development cooperation, said Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa.
