Jakarta (VNA) -The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia set a target towelcome 1.8 – 3.6 million foreign vistors in 2022.
According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia will focus on quality and sustainabletourism amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that Indonesia has planned to serve 260-280 milliondomestic visitors in 2022, and lift the addedvalue of the creative economy to over 1.23 trillion rupiah (87 million USD).
Meanwhile, deputy for strategic policy affairsat the ministry Kurleni Ukar said the ministry had agreed with the National DevelopmentPlanning Agency (Bappenas) to not set a high target for the tourism sector.
However, she expressed herhope that international events planned for next year will contribute toincreasing foreign currency revenue for the Southeast Asian nation.
According to Kurleni, Bali continues to be the most popular destinationamong international visitors, especially those from Australia, India and Japan. Meanwhile,Malaysian and Singaporean tourists are still the main target for Batam and Bintan.
For her part, deputy for marketing at the ministry Nia Niscaya affirmed thatIndonesia’s target tourism markets in 2022 is very “dynamic” as the countrycontinues to adjust its policy based on COVID-19 developments globally./.
