Indonesia to invest big in strategic tourism areas

Indonesia has announced that it will spend 7.1 trillion Rp (about 505 million USD) on developing infrastructure in national strategic tourism areas.

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia has announced that itwill spend 7.1 trillion Rp (about 505 million USD) on developing infrastructurein national strategic tourism areas.

The largest budget worth 2.5 trillion Rp will be allocatedfor Toba Lake site in Sumatra.

Meanwhile, 1.7 trillion Rp will be invested in Mandalikaregion in West Nusa Java, and1.3 trillion Rp poured to Borobudur in CentralJava.

Head of the Regional Development Agency (BPIW) Ministry ofPublic Works and Public Housing HadiSucahyono explained that the three areasreceive the majority of the budget because of their vast area.

At the same time, the Labuan Bajo region in East NusaTenggara will receive a budget allocation of 1 trillion Rp, while the remaining563.8 billion Rp will be allocated to the Likupang area in North Sulawesi.

Likupang has also been included in the list of priorityareas as it houses Bitung Special Economic Zone./.
