Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesian police said on December 24 that they have arrested two more people suspected of planning terror attacks during the Christmas and New Year in Jakarta, raising the total suspects arrested since last week to 11.

According to police, the newly arrested suspects are Abu Nazab and Arif Hidayatullon. They were detained in a raid in Jakarta’s suburb town of Bekasi on December 23. They are likely to be linked with the self-proclaimedIslamic State (IS).

Indonesian national police spokesman Anton Charliyan said four out of nine suspects who were arrested earlier may be linked to Jemaah Islamiyah, an al-Qaeda’s branch in the Southeast Asian region.

Luhut Panjaitan, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minster for Political, Legal & Security Afairs said about 150,000 policemen and military soldiers have been deployed across the country to prevent possible attacks during the period from December 24 to January 2.

In last August, Indonesia arrested three IS-linked𒁃 suspects. They were planning bomb attacks in the country during the Natiဣonal Day.-VNA
