Indonesian President to attend APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Meeting

Indonesian President Joko Widodo will attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang on November 10 and 11, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.

Jakarta (VNA) – ꦆIndonesian President JokoWidodo will attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Vietnam’s central cityof Da Nang on November 10 and 11, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairsof Indonesia.

The Indonesian President is scheduled to attend adialogue between APEC leaders and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) andleaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on November 10, aswell as joint activities of APEC leaders on the next day.

During the dialogue with the ABAC, President Widodo,along with leaders from China, Peru and New Zealand, will discuss measures tobolster regional economic cooperation to enter the era of digitalisation.

🦹 He will also will discuss innovative growth andregional inclusion in economic, social and financial areas; new drivers ofregional trade and investment, especially related to technological advancementsand access to digital devices with other APEC leaders.

The Indonesian President will speak about rural development promotion, maritime cooperation, and connectivitycooperation as well as promoting digital-based MSMEs. Established in 1989, the Asia-Pacific EconomicCooperation (APEC) forum comprises 21 economies, including Australia, Brunei,Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong-China, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea,Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia,Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam. APEC represents about 39 percent of the world’spopulation and contributes 57 percent to global GDP and 49 percent ofinternational trade.-VNA
