International friends meet on victory anniversary

Over 100 international delegates gathered at a meeting held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30 by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and its chapter in HCM City on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and national reunification.

Deri Miklos, a former member of the International Commission ofControl and Supervision (ICCS) at the Paris Peace Accords in Vietnam, expressed his admiration for Vietnamese people’s heroism, braveryand solidarity.

Sandra Scagliotti, director of acentre for research on Vietnam in Italy, said over the years she hasconducted much research on the healing of war wounds and rebuilding inVietnam. She called on the American government to compensate its wartimevictims.

Vu Xuan Hong, Chairman of VUFO, saidVietnamese people’s struggle for independence always received supportfrom millions of people from peace-supporting and progressiveorganisations.
