Int’l standard child library opens in Vietnam

The first international-standard library for children in Vietnam opened at the National Library of Vietnam in Hanoi on November 16.

Hanoi (VNA) -
The first international-standard library for children in Vietnam opened at theNational Library of Vietnam in Hanoi on November 16.

The 240sq.m library provides about 2,000 books in Vietnamese, Korean andEnglish. The library was designed as a "tree of wishes" to attractchildren to a wide range of cultural activities such as traditional instrumentplaying and film screens.

"The library is important to children and their families," said Directorof the National Library Kieu Thuy Nga, at the launching ceremony.

"It will help make reading and research easier,” she said.

The library is a cooperation between the National Library of Vietnam and the Republicof Korean International Cultural Foundation with backing from HyundaiCorporation.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
