Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (HCMUL) held aninternational webinar on criminal justice for juveniles on October 13.

In his opening speech, HCMULActing Rector Associate Professor Tran Hoang Hai said learning aboutinternational principles and standards as well as countries’ experience incriminal justice for juveniles in combination with considering political,socio-economic and cultural characteristics will contribute to offering morefeasible solutions to educating juveniles into more socially responsiblepersons.

Asso. Prof. Trinh TienViet, Vice Dean of the Law Faculty at the Vietnam National University – Hanoi suggestedauthorities continue fine-tuning criminal policies and regulations in the PenalCode 2015 on criminal responsibility for those aged below 18 and punishments onthem.

He proposed soon establishingunits in charge of criminal cases involving those aged below 18 ininvestigation agencies and People’s Procuracies, improving professionalexpertise of judges in the trial of juveniles, and enhancing supervision overthe enforcement of criminal laws and punishments on them.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
