Italy seeks business opportunities in Vietnam

More than 40 small and medium enterprises (SME) from Italy attended a seminar on development of the Vietnam-Italy business partnership, in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24.
More than 40 small and medium enterprises (SME) from Italy attended aseminar on development of the Vietnam-Italy business partnership, inHo Chi Minh City on May 24.

Representatives from the two countries introduced the partnership and business opportunities for foreign investors.

The seminar heard that foreign direct investment in Vietnam is rising, especially in the production sector.

Vietnam boasts many advantages to attract foreign investors withstable socio-economic conditions, improved tax and legal regulations andcheap labour costs, they said.

Representative of theUnited Nations Industrial Development Organisation Patrick Gilabert saidthe seminar is part of an SME development project funded by the Italiangovernment.

The project is designed to develop aninternational business partnership for the two countries’ businesses andimplement activities to promote trade, production and technicalcooperation agreements.

The project has providedtechnical assistance to almost 80 Vietnamese textile and garment,footwear and wooden furniture businesses and organised 40 trainingcourses and 10 fact-finding tours for Vietnamese businesses to conductmarket surveys and visit production mills in Italy.

Onthis occasion, the Italian business delegation will conduct a marketsurvey and engage in dialogue with Vietnamese businesses.-VNA

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
