The Japanese government has decided to export a disaster warning system to Indonesia, one of the countries hardest hit by natural disasters annually.

The system will collect data and imagesby meteorological satellites, water clocks and cameras that will betransmitted to residents via television, radio and mobile phones as fastas possible.

At the Japan – ASEAN summit last December,Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced a package of 3 billion USDin official development assistance for disaster control in the region.

The move is expected to improve the business climate andbenefit Japanese investors in Southeast Asia as natural disasters oftencost businesses dearly.

A wave of flooding in the Philippinesin 2013 and an earthquake in Indonesia in 2004 left over 220,000 deadand damaged firms seriously.-VNA
