Hanoi (VNA) – The capital city received 161﷽ cherry trees (Sakura) from the friendship association in Japan’s Fukushima City on N🧜ovember 24, reported the Ha Noi Moi Newspaper.
Some of the trees have been planted at Thang Long Citadel Complex, where the handover ceremony took place.
The others will be planted at several locations across Hanoi, including the spiral-shaped Co Loa citadel, Hanoi Museum and Hoa Binh Park.
The presence of the renowned Japanese symbol in the capital city is expected to bring Japan’s culture closer to locals, and foster ties between Hanoi and Fukushima.-VNA
One thousand Japanese cherry trees were planted in the northwestern province of Dien Bien on November 1 to commemorate late General Vo Nguyen Giap and contribute to the Vietnamese-Japanese friendship.
A total of 70 cherry trees (Sakura), a renowned symbol of the Japanese nation, was gifted to and planted in northern Bac Giang province during a ceremony on March 3.
