During the five-day visit to the city, the Japanese delegation led byCoast Guard Superintendent Akihiro Hirano will pay a courtesy visit toleaders of the Da Nang People’s Committee, the Vietnam Marine PoliceHigh Command, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre RegionII and Marine Police Region II.

They will,together with the Vietnam Marine Police, run search and rescue drills atsea, exchange experiences on sea and island protection and combatingpiracy and tour the landscapes of the city and its vicinity.

The Vietnam Marine Police and the Japan Coast Guard are activemembers of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy andArmed Robbery against Ships in Asia.

This is thethird visit made by the Japan Coast Guard to Vietnam to fostercooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the two nations’marine law enforcement.-VNA
