Can Tho (VNA) –
The Mekong Delta cityof Can Tho is implementing a vocational training programme for ethnic minoritypeople worth 200 billion VND (8.6 million USD), including more than 90 billionVND from the local budget.

This year, the city aims to provide vocationaltraining for at least 20 percent of its ethnic minority residents. 

The municipal Department of Labour, Invalids andSocial Affairs has opened courses catering to the demands of businesses andinvestors.

According to the Department of Ethnic Groups,most vocational training establishments for ethnic minority people focus onhousehold sewing, industrial sewing, knitting, beading and agriculture. 

Therefore, the city will diversify trainingcourses in other fields such as information technology and design.

Can Tho is home to 27 ethnic minority groupswith 36,133 people, 3.04 percent of the city’s total population.

The number of ethnic minority people at labourage stands at 21,907, about 10 percent of them untrained.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
