Kazakhstan officially opened its Embassy in Hanoi on March 30,looking toward it helping promote ties between the two countries.
Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son addressed the event, lauding the activity as a step forwards in bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the Kazakh Parliament’s Lower House ZhakupovKabibolla Kabenovich said Kazakhstan and Vietnam have coordinatedclosely in the United Nations framework and Asian cooperationmechanisms, as well as at other international organisations and forums.
The opening of the Kazakh Embassy in Hanoi reflects strong desires ofboth sides in expanding their partnership cross the board, statedKabenovich, who is in Hanoi to attend the 132nd Assembly of theInter-Parliamentary Union.
It also constitutes the special friendship, trust, and partnership between the two countries, he added.
According to Kazakh Ambassador to Vietnam Beketzhan Zhumakhanov,Vietnam and Kazakhstan have enjoyed a sound relationship,especially in politics, evidenced by the exchange of regular meetings aswell as support they have given each other at regional andinternational forums.
The Kazakh Embassy, the first inVietnam since the two countries set up their diplomatic ties in 1992,is expected to push for stronger cooperation between the two countries,especially in economy and trade.
Two-way trade between thetwo countries rose to 247 million USD in 2014 from 231 million USD in2013, the Ambassador reported, but noting the figure remains below thetwo countries’ partnership potential.
He revealed thatspeeding up the signing of a free trade deal between theRussia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union and Vietnam is among the tasksassigned to him during the Vietnam tenure.
Thediplomat also said many Kazakh businesses are interested in exploringpartnership opportunities in Vietnam, which could be brought byaccelerated economic restructuring in the country.-VNA
