KOICA helps Vietnam sharpen competitive edge

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam on June 11 handed over to the Vietnamese side an integrated information management system to support the Government’s effort in raising the competitiveness of the economy.

This is part of a 1.5 millionUSD project funded by the KOICA’s non-refundable assistance to establishthe system for the Competition Management Department under the Ministryof Industry and Trade.

Over the past 20 years, throughKOICA-funded projects, the RoK Government has helped Vietnam establishstock trading floors, supported its economic research institutes andprovided the country with policy consultancy on competition law andinvestment activities.

The system will help integrateinformation and affairs related to unfair competition, trade andconsumer protection together, helping heighten the effectiveness of thework.

According to Kim Sik Hyon, acting Chief Representative ofthe KOICA in Vietnam, the project will help raise the efficiency oftrade and investment activities and consumer protection in thecountry.-VNA

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
