Kon Tum, Lao provinces work to enhance shared border

– The Central Highlands provinceof Kon Tum and Laos’ Attapeu and Sekong provinces have reached a consensus onmaintaining efforts to build a Vienam-Laos borderline of peace, friendship andcooperation.

The agreement was reached during a conference between theVietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) – Kon Tum chapter and the Attapeu and Sekongchapters of the Lao Front for National Construction on November 16 in theVietnamese locality.

Speaking at the event, Vice President of the VFF CentralCommittee Truong Thi Ngoc Anh asked the three provinces’ front organisations tocontinue coordinating closely to boost all-round cooperation following theirsigned agreements, and implement the joint statement issued at theinternational conference on building the Vietnam-Laos borderline of peace,friendship, cooperation and development during 2017-2020.

Participants at the event agreed to regularly exchangeinformation and experience in front work, continue popularising the bilateralspecial friendship and solidarity among local people, particularly those inborder districts, and encourage locals to get involved in maintaining securityand order in border areas.

The VFF – Kon Tum chapter pledged to coordinate withrelevant agencies and businesses in organising market-days in border areas tointroduce its products to Lao people.

Kon Tum province has a borderline of 142km with Laos’Attapeu and Sekong provinces.-VNA
