Vientiane (VNA) – Personnel issues and strengthening t🌼he government apparatus will be the main focuses of🙈 the 8th Lao National Assembly’s first meeting, slated to open on April 20, a Lao official has said.

Speaking at a press conference in Vientiane on April 11, Member of the Lao NA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA Subcommittee for External Relations Kukeo Ackhamotry said that a series of important issues will be discussed at the event.
According to Kukeo, Lao legislators will consider approving the apparatus and structure of the NA and the Government, electing the President, Vice President and Prime Minister (PM), and appointing Deputy PMs and Cabinet members. They will also consider electing the People’s Supreme Procurator and Chief Judge of the People’s Supreme Court. The meeting will approve other issues and hear reports on the outcomes of the elections of the 8th NA and municipal and provincial-level People’s Councils.
Lao NA deputies will debate the National Strategy to 2025 with a vision to 2030, the National Socio-Economic Development Strategy Plan in 2016-2020, the state budget and the action plan of the 8 th NA in the 2015-2020 period. Party General Secretary Bounnhang Volachit will deliver a speech at the four-day event. The 8th NA of Laos comprises 149 members, including 41 women.-VNA
