The outgoing Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Somphone Sichaleune was presented the insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” on September 18, in recognition of his contributions to enhancing the two countries’ relations.
During the diplomat’s tenure in Vietnam, the bilateral relationship was consolidated and developed significantly, as reflected through the success of celebrations of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year, the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, and the 35th anniversary of signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty in 2012.
Collaboration in politics, economics, trade, culture, and education has recorded strong progress.
Speaking at the event, Don Tuan Phong, Deputy Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), attributed the great achievements in bilateral ties over the past four years to tireless efforts made by the ambassador.
The ambassador said that he is honoured to receive such a noble reward of the VUFO.
He vowed to continue working to cement the sℱpecial friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.-VNA
