BenTre (VNA) – Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphadone paid aworking visit to the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on October 26.
Atthe meeting, Vo Thanh Hao, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, briefedthe guest on local fruit and aquatic farming industry. Ben Tre is home to70,000 hectares of coconut trees which produce nearly 600 million coconuts ayear.
Theprovince and its agriculture have been facing challenges sparked by climatechange, he added.
The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre is inviting investment in 63 priority projects in 2017-2020, said Truong Duy Hai, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee on July 7.
The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre has implemented a plan with numerous programmes to help locals develop livelihoods and achieve sustainable poverty elimination from 2016 – 2020.
The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre has replaced rice by coconut, fruit trees, vegetables and aquaculture in an area of 7,548 hectares under a project to restructure the local agriculture.
