BenTre (VNA) – Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphadone paid aworking visit to the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on October 26.

Atthe meeting, Vo Thanh Hao, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, briefedthe guest on local fruit and aquatic farming industry. Ben Tre is home to70,000 hectares of coconut trees which produce nearly 600 million coconuts ayear.

Theprovince and its agriculture have been facing challenges sparked by climatechange, he added.

TheLao Deputy PM lauded the provincial socio-economic progress, particularly itsthriving coconut industry.

Hesaid the Lao Government welcomes Ben Tre authorities and businesses to studythe Lao market to boost cooperation in the coming time.

Onthe occasion, Sonexay Siphadone visited the Luong Quoi coconut processingcompany at the An Hiep industrial park in Chau Thanh district.-VNA
