Lao friendship association aids flood victims in Vietnam

Vientiane (VNA) - The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association (LVFA) Central Committee haspresented 100 million LAK (around 12,000 USD) to support Vietnamese peoplesuffered losses caused by recent floods and storms.

The money was handedover to the Vietnam Embassy in Laos in the afternoon of November 9.

Speaking at the hand-overceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung thanked the LVFA andvowed to promptly deliver the aid to targeted beneficiaries in Vietnam.

Somdee Bounkhun,Deputy Head of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee’sCommission for External Affairs who represents the LVFA, stressed that the twocountries share a traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensivecooperation.

In that spirit,the Party, State and people of Laos have followed closely and prioritisedgiving aid to affected people, he added.

The Lao officialbelieved under the leadership of the Vietnamese Party and local authorities, peoplein natural disaster-hit localities will soon overcome difficulties andstabilise their lives.-VNA
