The Lao students held a ritual ceremony in making offerings to theancestors, praying to God for good weather, bumper harvests and a happyNew Year.

Ancient festivities such as throwingwater, building mounds of towers, eating traditional food and bindingthreads on each other’s wrists have made homesick young people closer toeach other and warm in their hearts.

Sing DamKhiu La Vong, a Lao student from Quang Nam University , confidedthat he was unable to return home during this New Year festival butcelebrations held by the university have made him and his fellow friendsfeel happy and like they were at home.

Celebrations of the Lao traditional festival by universities in QuangNam province have also strengthened friendship between the twocountries, said organisers from Quang Nam University./.
