Laos, China issue joint statement affirming stronger cooperation

– Laos and China onNovember 14 issued a joint statement affirming the necessity to enhancebilateral cooperation during the visit to Laos by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The two countries pledged to developcomprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the long run based on mutualtrust and assistance. 

They recognised the bilateral cooperativeefficiency in regional and international issues and vowed to strengthencoordination at multilateral forums, including the United Nations, Asia-EuropeMeeting, East Asia cooperation mechanisms, and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

Laos and China agreed to build a community ofshared future with strategic significance based on mutual trust and maintainhigh-level meetings for bilateral cooperation development orientations in thenew era.

They were unanimous to step up cooperation andexperience sharing in various fields, including diplomacy, economics, legalenforcement, agriculture, energy and telecommunication.

Regarding the East Sea issue, Laos and Chinacalled on the parties involved to soon reach a Code of Conduct (COC) in theEast Sea and jointly build a peaceful, friendly, busy and cooperative marineroute.

On the occasion, the two countries signed 17cooperation documents to intensify their cooperative ties in investment fields,infrastructure building, science-technology, human resources training, andpower energy.-VNA
