Vientiane (VNA) – Offici𝓡als of Laos and Cuba have met in Vientiane to discuss measures to strengthen cooperation in the agriculture and livestock sectors.

The Lao delegation was led by Deputy Minister ofAgriculture and Forestry Thongphath Vongmany as the Cuban side was headed byDeputy Minister of Agriculture Maury Hechavarria Bermudez. At the meeting, Thongphath spokehighly of the Cuban delegation's visit to Laos, notingthat the trip contributed to strengthening the two countries’ relations andcooperation, mutual assistance and understanding based on the strategic friendship,common ideology and socialist pathway. The Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry andthe Cuban Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba signed a memorandum of cooperation inOctober 2022. The agreement aims to promote the exchange of scientific andtechnical information, exchange of experience on development of climateresistant breeds, introduction of resistant crops, integrated pest control,eco-agriculture management, animal husbandry and animal products. The agreement also prioritises cooperation onartificial insemination, animal breed upgrading, and forestry./.
