A ceremony marking the 65th anniversary of Laos’ Media and Publication Day was held in Vientiane on August 13, with the participation of senior officials and representatives from ministries and sectors, and diplomatic corps.

Speaking at the event, Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdala highlighted achievements made by the sector over the last 65 years.

He affirmed that the country’s Media and Publication sector is always the voice of the Party, State and people of Laos, and plays an important role in popularising the Party’s policies and the State’s laws.

It contributes to providing information in all aspects for the community and rejecting false allegations, he said, adding that the press is also a forum for strengthening democracy and rights of the Lao people.

In recent year, the sector has witnessed a strong development both in quantity and quality, with 127 press publications, 63 broadcasting stations, and 37 television stations nationwide.

It has applied advanced technologies in order to serve information popularisation and update.

On the occasion, the Lao Journalists Association launched an exhibition with 100 booths, displaying press publications, books, maps, teaching aids, printing equipment, music discs and documentary videos. The event attracts a large number of visitors.

In the framework of the celebration, 12 outstanding works💛 of a contest on the country’s achievements during its 40-year process ꧒were presented awards.-VNA

Thailand approves EV bus leasing for capital
