Lao Vice President,Bounnhang Vorachit urged a national committee to push the organisationof activities to mark the major anniversaries in Vietnam-Laos ties thisyear.
Bounnhang Vorachit made the call on August 22while he was chairing a meeting with Lao officials to discuss plans ofcelebration from now to the end of the year, for the 50th anniversary ofdiplomatic ties, 35 years of the signing of the Treaty of Friendshipand Cooperation between the two countries and the Vietnam-LaosFriendship and Solidarity Year 2012.
A widerange of activities are being planned, including a grand meeting, aseminar and talks with historical witnesses from both countriesscheduled for Laos’ central Khammouane province in October, and a fairat the Dansavan- Lao Bao border gate in November.
The Vice President also asked the country’s relevant agencies tocomplete on schedule the construction of a memorial site dedicated toPresident Ho Chi Minh in Khammouane.-VNA
