Laos records decline in new COVID-19 cases

Laos reported 547 new COVID-19 cases across 18 provinces and cities on December 27, posting a sharp decline against the previous day.

Vientiane (VNA) -  Laos reported 547 new COVID-19 cases across 18 provinces and cities on December 27, posting a sharp decline against the previous day.

The Lao Ministry of Health said the new infections dropped by 304. Vientiane capital city also saw a decrease in new cases by 119 on the day, but still logged the highest number of 204. 

The national count has reached 106,778, with 328 fatalities, according to the Lao Health Ministry.

The ministry has urged people displaying symptoms or having direct contact with COVID-19 patients to promptly go to medical establishments or contact mobile medical teams to test for COVID-19.

In a bid to lower infections in the community, the Lao government asked business operators nationwide to halt all activities once COVID-19 cases are detected within their vicinity, to apply prevention and control measures in keeping with guidelines of the authorities./.
