Laos sees surge in community COVID-19 infections

The Health Ministry of Laos said on September 11 that the country logged 204 cases of COVID-19, including 120 community infections, in the past 24 hours, raising the total caseload to 17,140, with 16 deaths.

Vientiane (VNA) – The Health Ministry of Laos said on September 11 that thecountry logged 204 cases of COVID-19, including 120 community infections, inthe past 24 hours, raising the total caseload to 17,140, with 16 deaths.

The ministry noted that the daily number of communityinfections has reached three digits, with many recent cases involving staffmembers at medical and quarantine facilities as well as the police and militaryforces.

In another development, Laos has set up a labour market information centre tosupport labourers made jobless by the pandemic to seek employment.

The centre will collect information to help policy makersdevise support policies for the unemployed./.
